Operating Guide

Everything you need to know to safely operate and maintain your Island Cruzer.

Licensing and Registration

Purchasers must register vehicles according to local laws and verify legality with their state's department of transportation or motor vehicles.

Owner's Responsibility

Owners are responsible for all maintenance of their Cruzer. Warranty claims may be denied due to failure to perform scheduled maintenance, abuse, neglect, improper maintenance, or unapproved modifications.

  • Tire pressure maintenance
  • Brake cleaning and inspection
  • Regular nut and bolt tightening
  • Electrical component functionality checks
  • Battery storage in appropriate conditions

Important: DO NOT GET THE CRUZER WET. Wipe the vehicle with a damp cloth only. Never spray with water as this may damage electrical components.

Tune Up / Maintenance

  • Tire Pressure: Regularly check for proper PSI (20–30 PSI).
  • Nuts and Bolts: Periodically inspect for looseness.
  • Brakes: Clean frequently.
  • Battery Storage: Do not store in temperatures greater than 130°F or lower than 14°F for extended periods.

Operating Instructions

  • Charging: Allow 4–6 hours to fully charge using the provided charger.
  • Movement: Keep powered off while walking the Cruzer; turn on when seated.
  • Keys: Three separate keys — ignition, backseat lockbox, and under-seat compartment.
  • Headlight: Red button on the left side.
  • Mirrors: Adjust while seated with handlebars straight.
  • Acceleration: Gently twist the throttle on the right handle; disabled when brakes are engaged.
  • Alarm / Commuter Mode: Lock/unlock via key fob; alarm automatically engages 20 seconds after power-off.

Troubleshooting

  • Slow Speeds: Low battery, especially uphill — recharge and retry.
  • Alarms: Use key fob to disengage.
  • Brake Squeaking: Clean brake discs with a cloth or brake cleaner.
  • Won't Turn On: Check battery connection; if display activates but no acceleration, verify neither brake is engaged.
